It is not safe to eat pasta that has been left out overnight. Perishable foods, including cooked pasta, should not be left at room temperature for more than two hours (or one hour if the temperature is above 90°F)[1][2][4][5][7][8]. Bacteria that cause foodborne illness, such as Bacillus cereus and Staphylococcus aureus, can multiply rapidly at room temperature. Some of these bacteria produce toxins that are not destroyed by reheating, meaning reheating the pasta will not make it safe to eat[1][4]. Consuming pasta left out overnight puts you at risk of food poisoning, with potential symptoms including nausea, vomiting, cramps, and fever[2][4].
For safety, always refrigerate leftover cooked pasta within two hours and discard any that has been left out longer.
